Gurminder Gidda is the Executive Chef of The Newbury Boston Hotel, joining the opening team from the Taj Boston.
Gidda began his career with the Taj group in 2005 as a Hotel Operations Management Trainee at the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai. Under the mentorship of the hotel’s Grand Master Chef Hermant Oberoi, Gidda learned to seek perfection in the kitchen and quickly rose through the ranks at the hotel’s Masala Kraft Café. In 2010, he was named Chef at Masala Bay Restaurant, the acclaimed restaurant at Taj Lands End Mumbai. During this time, Gidda traveled whenever possible to learn about India’s divergent cuisines at the source.
In 2011, Gidda eagerly accepted the opportunity to bring his expert knowledge of Indian cuisine to the United States at Taj Boston, where he worked for eight years.
Gidda embraces every aspect of the work he loves and is thrilled to join the opening team of The Newbury as Executive Chef. Gidda’s passion for food goes beyond the hotel, where even at home you can find him manning the barbecue and cooking fantastic feasts for family & friends.
