The essence of Champagne is pleasure itself. This belief is what fueled founder, Joseph Krug, a visionary non-conformist who established the house in 1843. His dream was to craft the very best Champagne he could offer, regardless of the harvest or annual variations in climate. He became known as the master of blended Champagne…. creating a wine that is consistently rich, complex and long-aging.
Since 1843, six generations of the Krug family have maintained the dream, with Olivier Krug as the current director.
Unlike most Champagne houses, Krug’s “Grande Cuvée” comprises the majority of its production and is a blend of the three primary Champagne varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. “Grande Cuvée” is composed of more than 120 different base wines from 10 different vintages, showcasing Krug’s reserve wines through a multi-vintage blend.
