This spectacular dinner will feature wines from two of the most prestigious names in Italian wine: Biondi-Santi and Dal Forno Romano. While both enjoy reputations as standard-bearers for their regions, each has its own unique history:
The Biondi-Santi family has a rich and storied history going back almost 200 years in the Tuscan town of Montalcino. Responsible for the creation of the entire appellation and style we know now as Brunello di Montalcino and putting the Brunello Grosso variety of the sangiovese grape in the pantheon of internationally-acclaimed fine wine, the Biondi-Santi family continues to produce wines renowned for their elegance and extraordinary longevity. These sensational wines will be represented by Tancredi Biondi-Santi, the seventh generation to be involved with this celebrated estate.
This extraordinary evening will also celebrate the Veneto’s iconic producer of appassimento-style wines, Dal Forno Romano who are best known for their Valpolicella Superiore and Amarone bottlings, counted amongst the benchmarks in Italian wine. With a family enterprise that includes the founder, Romano Dal Forno and his 3 sons, the estate produces wines of power and elegance at the same time from the hills outside of the ancient city of Verona. Romano’s son, Marco Dal Forno will be representing the family for this special dinner.
This 5-course dinner will feature the cuisine of acclaimed Executive Chef Michael Lombardi of the Venetian inspired SRV restaurant in Boston. Talented and well-traveled, Chef Michael and partner/co-owner, Chef Kevin O’Donnel met in Orvieto, Italy, worked together at Del Posto in New York, L’Office in Paris and finally settled in the South End of Boston to open the highly acclaimed SRV 6 years ago. Their style is simple and delicious yet bursting with surprise and complexity. A perfect combination paired with the dynamic and elegant wines of Biondi Santi and Dal Forno Romano.
