Celebrity Chef and Winemaker

DAVID DANIELSDAVID DANIELS
David Daniels is the Executive Chef at Topper's at The Wauwinet. Chef Daniels describes his cooking style as eclectic-American with a strong focus on fresh seasonal ingredients from local and world-class purveyors. At Topper's, Daniels designs his menu around the freshest, best ingredients Nantucket island has to offer. He considers it an honor to be part of the team at The Wauwinet and Topper's, Nantucket's most celebrated restaurant.

ALEX GAMBALALEX GAMBAL
Alex Gambal is the proprietor/winemaker of Maison Alex Gambal. Alex makes all his wines in an artisanal manner in small lots (average production is five to six barrels). He racks the wine by hand without pumps and bottles, by gravity, without fining or filtering his reds, and only lightly fining his whites when necessary. He strives to make wines of purity and character. His goal is to see that the grapes express the character of the place and that the wine has soul.

The Auction

The Auction will follow dinner and will feature rare wines, large-format bottles signed by the winemaker, and a variety of splendid and unusual "life-style" items. An event not to be missed. The auctioneer will be Richard Brierley, Vice President, Head of North American Wine Sales, Christie's--young, British, and charismatic. He is part wine savant and part showman.

The Nantucket Historical Association is dedicated to preserving Nantucket's heritage. With its museums and historic sites, the association reveals the way that islanders lived and worked for over 300 years. By touring the properties, visitors see how Nantucket evolved from a small farming community to be the capital of the American whaling industry to a popular resort community. Today, Nantucket is home to the nation's largest concentration of 18th century buildings, miles of pristine beaches, and one of the largest cranberry bogs in the region. The Nantucket Historical Association has been a part of the community since 1894 and strives to preserve, collect, and educate into the island's future. It has full accreditation from the American Association of Museums.
