Pioneers of the Rhône Valley Renaissance: Yves Cuilleron and François Villard Tasting

Winemakers François Villard and Yves Cuilleron bring a taste of the Rhône to the Nantucket Wine Festival with a broad tasting of wines from Sarl François Villard, Cave Yves Cuilleron, and Vins de Vienne. In the movie Sideways, protagonist Miles Raymond was obsessed with chasing the wines produced by this fickle grape. Was he a fool or is Pinot Noir really worth hounding after? The world’s awareness of Pinot Noir has grown exponentially in the last decade, with wines available from all over the world in a range of different styles. This seminar offers the chance to try the wines of three world-class Pinot Noir producers from three different climates: California, Oregon and Burgundy. You'll taste Kistler 2008 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, J. Christopher Dundee Hills 2007, and Maison Ambroise. Decide for yourself what style suits your taste and whether you relate to Miles’ obsession with Pinot Noir.

Vive la France! Domaine Faiveley Wine Dinner

Established in 1825, the wines of Domaine Faiveley reflect Burgundy’s extraordinary mosaic of terroirs. With a firm commitment to the quality of Burgundy’s patrimony, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is today among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune and Cotes Chalonnaise.  Bernard Hervet will pull wines from the Domaine’s 19th century cellar to pair with the noteworthy French-American cuisine of rising-star Chef Christopher Coombs of Deuxave (Boston.)  Lauded as a young talent in the world of edibles and potables by Forbes “30 under 30: Food & Wine” list in 2012, Chef Coombs continually raises the bar of fine dining in Boston’s food scene.
